N this page are three rulers which will be of considerable help to all model railroaders becase they .provide a quick meth od for. determining ac curate scale dimensions. R u I e r m a r k e d "00" gauge shows the length of each foot reduced to 1/76th its size : the correct scale Ruler marked for "00". "0" shows each foot 1/48th its size : the commonly used scale for "0" gauge. The ruler marked "Standard" shows each foot about 1j27th its size. Cut out the ruler at the right which is marked for the size of the track that you have. Mount it on a piece of wood or cardboard. To keep it clean, give it a thin coating of shellac. You can now use this ruler for everything you want to reproduce in mini ature, and be confident that whatever you make will be proportionately accurate or "true to scale." All you do is to obtain the actual, life size dimensions of the real railroad equipment you want to copy and then build your reproduction to those same dimensions as they are charted on your ruler. Notice on each ruler the first foot is divided into inches and these inches are followed by 0, 1, 2, 3, etc. Whenever you have a di mension of an even number of feet, be sure to start at the zero point and not at the left hand of ruler. Whenever you have a di mension of so many feet plus so many inches, start at the zero point and lay out the proper number of feet, reading to the right ; then return to the zero point and add the proper number of inches, reading to the left. The two ex tremities will then give you the correct length. You will find with each construction story in MODEL BUILDER a scale which pro vides full, life-size dimen sions for all drawings and plans.
