It sat in a Basement at the University of Nebraska Lincoln after UP donated it to them after they quit using it for training crews how to switch in a hump yard. It has flood lights and all the switches are electric. It will be nice when we get it all restored. After we do, it is going into the lobby at the Golden Spike Tower in North Platte Neb

I would have never thought of them using N scale to train. I assume it is all simulator training now.

We almost didnt get it, the construction company that was t... moreYep they used it in the 70's until about 86 or 87 then gave it to UNL, It was in a Diner, that they hauled all over the system to train new crews on, and then they moved onto cumputer simulation. We almost didnt get it, the construction company that was tearing the building down, came in and changed the locks, and we got down there on a Sunday so we couldnt get to it and had to find one of the maintainence guys to help us break in.
